Dear Residents,

We wanted to share this article with you today about free water available in Austin.

Posted:  / Updated:

AUSTIN (KXAN) — On Sunday, the City of Austin is opening 10 water distribution sites — all intended for area residents who are most vulnerable and who can’t purchase or boil water.

Pick ups will include one case of free water while supplies last. Residents who are driving should have their trunks open or have doors unlocked so water can be placed inside. Guests who are on foot should bring a cart or carrier large enough for one case of water.

Distribution begins at 11 a.m. at:

  • Nelson Field, 7105 Berkman Drive
  • Onion Creek Soccer Complex, 5600 E. William Cannon Drive
  • Roy G. Guerrero Park, 400 Grove Boulevard
  • ACC Highland Mall parking lot, E. Highland Mall Boulevard
  • Garrison Park, 6001 Menchaca Road
  • Lakeline Station, 13625 Lyndhurst Boulevard
  • Walnut Creek Park, 12138 N. Lamar Boulevard
  • Zilker Park, 2301 Barton Springs Road
  • Anderson High School, 8403 Mesa Drive

Additionally, water distribution will be held at 11 a.m. at Austin Community College’s Pinnacle Campus located at 7748 Highway 290 West.

Across Austin and the surrounding areas, several other organizations and individuals have organized free water distribution events.

As of Saturday night, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality reports more than 14 million Texans are under a boil water notice.

Austin Water reported it has 60 million gallons of water in storage. But the storage needs to be stocked with 100 million gallons, the City says.

Winter Storm Update 2/20/21 9:44am

We know this time has been difficult, and we love to see how neighbors are helping each other get through it. To provide an update on repairs, yesterday, our plumbing contractor completed some repairs to pipes and now needs to wait for pipes to unfreeze to cut and glue them as our next step. We are hopeful to complete this today. Once this has been completed, the pipes will need to be glued and dry for 36 hours. We will have the water hose stations set-up today from 11am to 4pm. Please remember to boil water for consumption. Weather conditions on property remain icy and we recommend using extreme caution and weather appropriate footwear when walking through the community. When utilizing the water hose station, please remember that dripping water will cause ice to form, creating an unsafe condition.

We are in this together,

Your Windsor Ridge Team

Winter Storm Update 2/19/21 11:05am CT

Please use caution when walking through the community. As the ice begins to melt, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and be mindful that there is the potential for falling icicles.

Winter Storm Update 2/19/21 11:17am CT

In an effort to restore water service to the community, we will be conducting inspections of select units today beginning at 11am. We hope to complete all inspections by the end of today or tomorrow at the latest.

We may not need to enter every apartment for this evaluation, and we encourage residents that have noticed water in their home to submit a work order in the category of “leak” so we know we need to evaluate this home for leaks in the building.

If you have not been home since Thursday, February 11th please email the office at so we can inspect your home.

Our water hose stations are still available throughout the community for water as well as the pool.

Winter Storm Update: Water Supply 2/19/2021 1:32pm CST

We wanted to provide you with another update regarding the status of restoring water supply to the community. Our plumbing contractor is onsite today to do inspections, assess leaks and begin the repair process. Given the extent of leaks that we are experiencing, we do not anticipate restoring water to the community this weekend.

Please be cautious when walking though the community as icicles may fall once they begin to melt. We recommend relocating any vehicles that are parked under an icicle to prevent potential damage.

The water stations in building 1 and 3 will be available daily from 9am-5pm if you need water for boiling or to fill your toilet tank.

Email and text updates will be sent as we progress through the process. We appreciate your patience as we work to restore the water supply to the community.
